The evening before school started in August Eric took us all out for ice cream cones at Braum's. Everyone enjoys this beginning of the school year tradition!
Sarah is in 6th grade at the middle school now. She and I were a little nervous for the first day of school. She was worried about not being able to open her locker, not finding her classes and making it to them on time, and a little about not knowing many people yet. She was also riding the bus to and from school for the first time this year.
Sarah's first day at the middle school was only with 6th graders. It was an orientation so that they all could learn the layout of the building, find their classrooms, see who was in their classrooms, and turn in their supplies. The second day all of the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders were in the building. The first few days she got to do a few 'getting to know you" activities.
Her favorite class so far this year is Art. She gets to be super creative and has gotten to learn and make all kids of neat and interesting pieces of artwork. She has also had several of her art pieces displayed in the classroom and hallways for others to see. Below, is a picture of her cereal artwork.
She is doing extremely well in all of her classes.
Below, some more of her art. We have these displayed in our kitchen window. They are especially cool looking when the sun hits and shines through them.
I do not have any pictures of this activity, but Sarah choose to be a part of the 6th grade running club. They met every Monday and Wednesday in September and part of October right after school and ran together. Most nights she ran anywhere from 2-4 miles. Sometimes they did a timed mile to see how much they were improving and getting stronger. I was glad she was a part of the running club. It gave her an opportunity to meet some new kids and keep her body strong for her upcoming basketball season.
Below, more artwork.
It has been a good first two months for Sarah. We hope it continues and gets better and better for her.
