October & November - Phoebe

The school wide fall Fun Run was held in October.  Kindergarten and 1st grade run 1/2 mile.  2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th all run 1 mile.  It had been very rainy leading up to race day.  This resulted in a move of the normal course/path to a new course/path, resulting in it not being a timed race.
Phoebe was ready though.  She ran hard the whole time.
Strong to the end!  Great job Phoebe!
Below, Phoebe and her friend Lila after the race.
Below, a group of 3rd graders with Phoebe, eating their popsicles after their races.
Popee and Nanee were able to come and watch the races that day with us too.
Phoebe had another successful two months of school.
I helped with the fall events Pastries with Parents and the Book Fair.  That meant my family spent some extra time at school too helping and reading.
We had the first nine weeks parent/teacher conferences in mid-October.  Phoebe's teacher had lots of positive things to say about her and the efforts she puts forth at school.
The school has a new music teacher this year.  We all really like her!  She planned a new schoolwide event for all of the kids and families to participate in called Boogie On The Blacktop.  Each grade level got to perform and song and dance to some Halloween music.  It was a very well attended event, and seemed to be very well run and enjoyable for all that were there.  Phoebe's class danced to the Monster Mash and Purple People Eater.
For Halloween Phoebe dressed up as Violet from the Incredibles.  A couple of her friends did not even recognize her with the black wig on!
On Halloween the school had their annual costume parade followed by the classroom parties.
Phoebe's class played a game of making people into Mummy's using toilet paper.
In 3rd grade they levelize for reading and math, a high group, an on-level group, and a below level group.  Phoebe is in the high group for both reading and math.
She continues to do well on her weekly spelling tests.
Her class took a field trip to a roller skating rink.  They did some STEM activities and then got to skate.  Afterwards they ate lunch and played at a local park.
Below, is a Thankful folder that Phoebe made.
Phoebe has a math worksheet for homework almost every night.  She usually can complete them independently.  Sometimes Eric gets to help her.
They did a few fall and Thanksgiving art projects.
Below is her Pigeon project.  The writing on the inside of this made me laugh, (3 Good Reasons to Eat Hot Dogs on Thanksgiving).
