Last Days of School

Sarah got out of school two and a half days before Silas and Phoebe.  The last day of school for her was an 8th grade "fun day"  They did fun things like play yard games in the gym, sing karaoke, play BINGO, and watch movies.  They each got a gift bag and there was an assembly in the gym.

At the school assembly there were two Citizenship Awards given out, one to a boy and one to a girl.  This award is for outstanding leadership, school spirit, respectful behavior towards others, and volunteer work in the school and community.  Sarah was elated to be nominated and selected as the winner by her teachers!!!! She couldn't wait to tell us all about it when she got home from school that day.  Below, Sarah and the other three female nominees, and the four male nominees.

Sarah worked hard the entire crazy school year.  She was able to maintain ALL A's, ALL YEAR LONG, even with the school being in person then making everyone go remote for three months, then back to in person.  She is dedicated and motivated to do well academically in all her classes.  Earning all A's for the year also earned her the President's Award for Educational Excellence.

That evening, Sarah and three of her friends, Wyatt, Kenna, and Jax, decorated our truck in a patriotic theme and rode in the back of it for their 8th grade promotion parade.

During the parade Sarah had to get out of the truck, while her teachers and friends clapped and cheered for her and she was given her framed Citizenship Award.

The last day of elementary school for Phoebe and Silas brought smiles and some tears.  (Great teachers are hard to say "good-bye" to.)  It certainly was an oddball year with kids bouncing in and out of school for remote/in-person learning, and quarantines.  The kids all missed normal routines and getting to interact normally with their peers and teachers at school.  Phoebe and Silas were both blessed with fantastic teachers this year.  We were thankful for their kindness and hard work during this challenging year.

To celebrate the official last day of school we had Hurts Donuts and Rockin Rico's Snow Cones.
