Things In April and May

Lindsee, EP, and Will came to visit us all in early April.  We spent a couple days together at our house and a few days at Mom and Dad's house.  At Mom and Dad's we were able to help Dad get a TON of leaves raked and picked up out of their yard.
The kids all enjoyed a small Easter egg hunt in Popee and Nanee's backyard.

Uncle Ernie and Aunt Judy were also able to come visit us all too.  It was great to be all together again.
Below, Easter Sunday pictures, after church.
Sarah and Phoebe both attended an afternoon softball clinic put on by our local high school coach and his players.  Below, Aleigha, Lauren, Kenna, Mercedez, Sarah, Felicity, and Maddilyn.
Lucy, our cat, is getting very comfortable in our home.  Sometimes she hops up on my Coke stools to see what's going on around the room from a higher elevation.  She has also been finding silly places to lay and take her cat naps.
We went fishing one afternoon to help Eric try to catch some bait fish for a fishing trip that he and Silas had coming up.  Phoebe baited her own hook with worms!
Eric and Silas went on their fishing trip with Roby and his grandson.  They caught some BIG FISH!

Phoebe participated in the GOTR practice 5k run two weeks prior to the GOTR 5k race.  Sarah and I ran the practice run with her.  Below the GOTR group before the practice run.
Silas got his expander taken out of his mouth and the orthodontist put braces on to move some of his teeth around and get it ready for his permanent teeth to come in.
Silas got to do some fun projects in his second grade classroom this year.  Even with this year's challenges Silas adjusted easily and his room was filled with fun and learning.
Silas was excited to give his animal report presentation at school in front of his class.  He did his about fish.

My brother, Matt, was able to come and visit us all for a few days.  It was great to see him.  It had been almost two years since we had been able to see his face and hug his neck.  He went to the zoo with us one afternoon and we all had a nice time walking around together and looking at the animals.

Phoebe ran in the GOTR 5k race on May 2nd.  She and her running buddy, Dax, ran a great race and Phoebe got her PR of 27:14.  Good job, Phoebe!

We had a big gathering of Turkeys out on our practice field one morning before school.  They didn't seem to mind us getting close to them to take a few pictures.
All three of our kids are playing softball/baseball again this spring/summer.  One Saturday morning they all had their team pictures taken.

We celebrated Eric's 43rd birthday on May 8th.
He requested cupcakes from Dillons that had the buttercream icing on them for his birthday dessert.
Phoebe's teacher, for both first and second grade, got his students back together for a group picture before their fifth grade year came to an end.  He is one of "the BEST" teachers ever.  And this group of students will always have a special bond.

Eric and Silas got to go fishing with Popee at Melvern Lake.  Then that evening we went farm pond fishing.

We attended a Windsurge game on a Sunday afternoon.  It was a lot of fun.  Silas and Eric got to help lead "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" in the 7th inning, Eric and I got on the "Kiss Cam", and Silas ran the bases with his friend, Owen, after the game.

One of the last weeks of school they had theme days.... Animal theme, camping theme, and beach day were a few of the fun days.

Silas broke his pinky finger on is right hand in mid-May trying to catch a hard kicked ball at recess.  He had to wear it splinted for a week until we saw the Orthopedic specialist for some more x-rays.  At that appointment it was decided that we would cast it so that it would have a better chance to heal properly, and we could hopefully avoid surgery to fix it in the future.  This was a little sad for Silas, because his baseball games had just begun.  It is hard for him to sit on the sidelines and just watch.  Plus, he is right-handed so some of his normal activities became a little challenging.

Eric and Silas attended Monster Jam with our friends David and Felicity.  They all had a really good time watching this monster trucks and ATV's do all sorts of tricks.

Eric and Silas saw our friends Tim and Bailey at Monster Jam too.  They looked up, and there they were!
In the last few days of school there was some fun... below, Phoebe and her friends enjoying snow-cones.
Sarah's last day was a three days before Silas and Phoebe's last day.  The 8th graders got to do fun things on the last day of school, games, karaoke, a movie, and an awards ceremony.
The evening of Sarah's last day they had a drive-through promotion parade for the 8th graders.  She and her friends, Wyatt, Kenna, and Jax decorated our truck with an American theme and I drove them through the parade.

During the parade, Sarah had to get out to accept her Citizenship Award that she had been awarded earlier in the day at the awards ceremony.  She and one other student, a boy, were nominated and selected by their teachers to receive this award.

Aunt Judy attended a wedding at the end of May near our house.  She came a little early and spent the night with us.  It is always nice when we get to see her and spend time with family.
