Sarah's Schoolwork - November and December

Sarah really enjoys school this year.  She is learning new things every week.  She is excelling in reading and loves to read chapter books.  She likes the MAGIC TREE HOUSE series, by Mary Pope Osborne, and can read one of these books in just a few short hours.  She is eager to read as much as possible then take an AR test at school on each book she has read.  She has far exceeded her year long AR goal already, but still likes to read and take each test, which gives her points to spend at the AR store occasionally.  Other books or series she enjoys are books about animals, Pet Hotel, Junie B. Jones, and just recently the American Girl stories.
Sarah made this tree house in her gifted class.   It is supposed to look like Jack and Annie's tree house from the Magic Tree House book series.

Me: How did you make this tree house?
Sarah: I used a shoe box, toilet paper rolls, paper, paper towel rolls, popsicle sticks, pencils, and stickers.
Me: What happens in Jack and Annie's tree house?
Sarah: They read books and then the tree house starts to spin and they go to a different world.  They meet new people on each adventure and learn about different people.
Me: How many Magic Tree House books have you read so far?
Sarah: thirteen
Me:How many books are in the Magic Tree House series?
Sarah: I don't know.  I thought there was fifty.
Me:How have you been doing on spelling tests?
Sarah: I get ten's a lot.
Before Thanksgiving Sarah learned about different Indian tribes.
Her class did activities about their Thanksgiving traditions.
Sarah's math group studied shapes and continued to work on addition and subtraction, measuring, and fact families.
Sarah got to go on a field trip to a Women's Shockers basketball game with her class.  The Shockers won and Sarah had a great time!
On the last day of school before Christmas, there was an all school Christmas assembly.  All of the children participated in a Christmas sing-a-long, some played instruments, and the teachers did a funny performance to the "Twelve Days of Christmas".
Sarah ~ "I love my teacher!"
Below are some Christmas crafts and a card that Sarah made for us for Christmas.  Thank you, sweet girl!
