Sarah had another great month of school! Only a few short weeks left and school will be out for the summer!
How did playing the Recorder go for you this year? How was your last playing test?Sarah: It was good and fun. We played a lot of songs. Good. I had to play the song, When the Saints Go Marching In, in front of my class. My teacher told me I did good.
How did the State Assessment testing work in your school and grade level? What did you do during State Assessment testing time, when you weren't testing?
Sarah: We did testing for two weeks. There were two groups of 3rd graders and one group tested in the morning and the other tested in the afternoon. When I wasn't testing I got to watch movies and go to the gym. In the gym we played basketball and play with toys.
What have you been playing or enjoying at recess time this month?
Sarah: Going on the tire swing. I like riding on it and pushing my friends on it. I also like to play basketball at recess. And I like to do the monkey bars.
What have you been doing during P.E. time?
Sarah: We did a lot of practicing for field day. We practiced things like Limbo, egg and spoon race, tire race, running, Hula-hooping, and throwing balls at cones, soccer kick, three-legged race, sack race, and tug-o-war.
Your class took two field trips during April. Tell me about those two trips.
Sarah: The first trip was to Rock and Mineral Show. At that we got to shop for rocks and learn about rocks. We took our lunch and got to eat it outside at the park. The next trip was to Fitness Day. At that we did different activities to learn how to keep safe. There was checking your fire alarm, practiced looking left right and then left and walking down the street. And we also practiced making a 911 call. Then we told a lady that answered the phone what our emergency was and what we needed. And my pretend emergency was that my house was on fire. There was also some games to play and snacks to eat.
