Friday
We headed out for a vacation in beautiful Colorado on 7/15. Our first stop was at Lindsee and EP's house. We drove during the afternoon and early evening hours on this trip out. Silas told me about halfway there if I would just give him his train blanket he would go to sleep. I finally crawled back in the vehicle and found the blanket, and sure enough, he fell fast asleep for about the next two hours.
After unloading at Lindsee and EP's house we went for a walk around their neighborhood.
Saturday
The next day brought MuckFest. A muddy 5K course filled with obstacles to maximize the fun and muck-filled experience. This is a super fun event that raises awareness and funds for the National MS Society. Team Muckstache had seven members this year, and lots of mucky fun!

We arrived at the Hastings Brothers cabin later that afternoon. This is and always will be one of my most favorite places on this earth. Built by my Grandpa Howard Hastings, his boys, and daughter-in-laws, it has held many happy memories for lots of folks. A simple dream that my Grandpa had has touched many lives. The cabin belongs to my Dad, and two Uncles now. We all get to enjoy it in the summertime and continue to make many memories there.
Below, is a little peek into one corner of the kitchen. Nothing fancy. It didn't need to be for Grandpa and Grandma. They didn't want it that way, and neither do we. Functional, old-fashioned, and fun, not fancy...
Down the hill is a very small pond that holds some very small fish. Silas was excited to catch a few with Daddy. We all headed down the hill for a short hike and some fishing.
It was fun to spend time with Lindsee, Popee, Nanee, John, and Jeline at the cabin.
We saw many Hummingbirds coming to drink the sweet water Popee and Nanee mixed up and hung out on the porches of the cabin.
