December Fun

We saw this 8 point buck a few times on our land in December.
Phoebe and Silas started their basketball games for one of the leagues that they are playing in this year.  There was one Saturday morning that all three of our kids had games.  We were glad that Popee and Nanee could join us so that we could divide and cheer for all three kids.
We got about 2 inches of snow one day in December.  Schools closed.  The kids and I got out and ran errands and when Eric got home later that day we all had some fun playing in the snow and sledding we our friends Steve and Shawna.

The Hutton Christmas party was held near the airport this year at the B-29 DOC airport Hangar.  We got to tour this museum and go inside "DOC", a World War two B-29 bomber
The food was delicious and Hutton gave away some amazing raffle prizes again this year.  Thank you Hutton!
We decided to make crafts for some of our friends and family this year for Christmas.  Phoebe wanted to make pillows, lots of pillows.  She learned to sew last summer and wanted to put her skills to use.  She ended up making 21 pillows, with a little help from me.  Sarah painted small canvases and added Bible verses or sayings onto them once they dried.  I helped Silas make name hangers with Scrabble letters for a few friends.  They each also hand-drew and painted a Colorado scene on a wooden picture frame.  Then they each picked a picture from our Colorado trip last summer that they thought each friend would like, to give to Felicity, Abigail, and Shawna.
We gathered with our friends the Williams and the Jacobs on December 21st to have a "Friends Christmas"  We had soup, chili, and sandwiches, and of course dessert.  We visited and shared lots of laughs.  The kids all made each other gifts, so the kids exchanged gifts.  We also did a gift card exchange among everyone.  It was a fun evening.
One of the most funny parts of the evening happened when the kids were dressing up and using a closet as a changing room... Two of the kids went in and got stuck.  The door would not let them out.  The whole handle mechanism was broken, so the daddies came to the rescue.  After about 10 minutes of laughing and some tools being used, Shawna and Sarah were safely out and reunited with the group.  Ha!
Every year our family has a family Christmas movie night.  This time it was on Monday, the 23rd. The kids get out blankets and sleeping bags and we gather in the living room to watch some of our favorites together. We watched The Christmas Story, The Star, and Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors.  I don't think anyone feel asleep this year...well, maybe Eric, but we woke him back up.
Our church held a Christmas Eve service this year.  It was nice.  Tyson had all of the little kids come up and listen to the Christmas story on stage.  There were lots of my favorite Christmas hymns sung, and at the end we all lit our candles and sang again.
