Phoebe's March School Happenings

What did you do special for Dr. Seuss's birthday?
Phoebe:  We maked special projects, and read Dr. Seuss stories and magazines.
In math Phoebe has been working hard to learn simple addition and subtraction facts.  She seems to enjoy math and is getting fast at answering math problems verbally.
Another great report card for Phoebe.  She had all high marks for the 3rd nine weeks.  She continues to learn and like school.
I heard a Leprechaun may have come to your classroom and caused some mischief... What happened?
Phoebe:  The first day he came and maked a mess.  We were in PE and when we got back we saw a mess in our classroom and the bathroom.  He was looking for a 4-Leaf Clover.  The second time he gave us some paint and some Peppers and we got to make an art project.  I did not see the Leprechaun.  He left some notes with Leprechauns on them that's how we knew it was a Leprechaun.  On the third day he left us a treasure hunt.  And we got to find it.  And it was candy and necklaces.  And he tricked us.  He said for us to go out of our room and look in other places, but it was on the teacher's chair!
What are your favorite things/games/activities that you get to play in P.E.?
Phoebe:  Hula Hooping, Tire Rolling, Tire Races,  the spoon and the egg...you have to balance it on there, and Stuck in The Mud
How did you make the clover project below?
Phoebe:  We made it with Green Peppers.  My teacher cut the Peppers in half and we dipped them in paint.  Then we stamped them on our paper.  Then we let them dry.  The Peppers made a 4-leaf Clover.
You made the spider project below that was displayed at the school Art Fair.  Tell me about it.
Phoebe:  I used a white crayon to draw the spider web and the fly.  The fly was stuck in the web.  I used glue and glitter to make the spider.
Below, is a 3-page book that Phoebe wrote at school about Easter.  The first picture is her name and the book cover.
Page 1 - I get chocolate bunnies because it is Easter.
Page 2 - After we go to get chocolate bunnies we go to church.
Page 3 - On Easter Jesus died.

Below is Phoebe's March calendar that she brought home every night from school in March.  A parent must initial it each night and send it back to school in the morning.  Each school day, at the end of the day, Phoebe gets to color the square with the color that her clip/clothespin has moved to and is still on at the end of the day.  9 green days and 5 blue days in March.

Sarah's March School Happenings

You did a report on an Inventor.  Tell me about your Inventor and how you made this project.
Sarah:  My inventor was Alexander Graham Bell.  We got to pick our inventor from a bunch of books in a basket.  Then we made the inventor folder.  We had to write all about the inventor we picked.  We had to find facts to fill in the information.

What are your favorite things/games/activities that you get to play in P.E.?
Sarah: Stuck In The Mud, Everybody's It Tag - Everybody's it and if somebody tags you then the person that got tagged has to sit down and the last person left standing up is the winner, Hula Hooping, Tire Racing, Egg Racing, and sometimes Limbo.

What have you been learning about/studying in Science?
Sarah:  Magnetism, Electricity, Frogs and Butterflies
Sarah received all A's and S's for the 3rd nine weeks on her report card.  Way to go Sarah!
How is learning to play the Recorder going for you in Music Class?
Sarah:  Good.  I just had a playing test this week.  It was on the song, When the Saints Go Marching In.  I missed none!  The teacher said, "Awesome" after I was done with my test.
You prepared two projects for the school Art Fair.  The Lorax project was displayed at the Art Fair.  Tell me how you made it.
Sarah:  I had to cut out a circle.  Then I laid it in a box and I put marbles in with it.  Then I put paint in the box, and rolled the marbles around on the circle paper.  After it dried then glued my picture onto the circle.  I was wearing a Lorax mustache in the picture.   I also wrote about how I would help the earth if I was the Lorax.  We glued the circle and the writing all on one piece of paper.
If I was the Lorax, this is how I would help our Earth..."I would build a machine that gives people free food.  I would give people medicine if they were sick.  I would grow my hair long and build a machine that cuts my hair and I would give my hair to people that have no hair.  I will build a church and I will tell people about God and Jesus so that they have a chance to go to Heaven."
