On Day #5 of Spring Break the weather had started to turn colder outside again. We enjoyed mostly indoor activities that day. Both girls had brought a craft kit to work on while at Nanee and Popee's house so we got those out. Phoebe had a headband kit. The kit included two headbands and a bunch of stickers. She got to decorate the headbands any way she wanted to, then could wear them. Silas got to spend a little bit of time in Popee's wood shop watching Popee use some of his big machines, the table-saw, the wood lathe, and the band-saw. Popee made Silas a small wooden box out of scrap wood and turned a few round wooden pieces on the lathe for him to play with. Silas got to help Popee use the staple gun to put the box together.
Sarah's crafts required her and Popee to read some directions and then put four small wooden things together, a birdhouse, a wind chime, a bird feeder, and a windmill. They worked on gluing these together and preparing them to paint.
We also used markers and egg stencils to color some Easter eggs.
The stencils worked fairly well. I used scotch tape to tape them to the egg then let the kids use the markers to color them in. We also just drew our own designs onto a few of the eggs. This was much less messy than using an egg dye, and the kids could do it independently.
