Easter Sunday, April 16th, 2017
After waking up and getting ready for church we gave the kids an Easter bucket with a few surprises inside from us... Flip-Flops, a toy, and some Starburst Jellybeans.
The kids all looked especially good in their new Easter dresses and shirts.
After church, a friend took a quick picture of all five of us before we hurried home to change our clothes and head to Hesston for a Hastings family gathering at my cousin Josh's house.
At Josh's we ate a potluck style meal together, visited, danced, and played the traditional family Wiffleball game. It was a good day, lots of laughs were shared, and family memories were made.

These cute kid cousins had a wonderful time running and playing together.

Back at home, Phoebe shared her Easter Eggs with all of us. She made them during Sunday School at church and brought them home on Easter Sunday. Each egg contained an item that related to Jesus. Phoebe carefully retold the stories and verses that pertained to each egg, until coming to the last egg in her container. (The very BEST egg of them all!) She carefully took out the egg and showed us that it was EMPTY. Just like the tomb. Tears welled up in my eyes and I tried to shallow that lump in my throat. What a gift! My seven year old gets it. She knows Jesus and knows he died for her. She is a light for Jesus. I hope she will always shine and remember what He did for her, and lead others to Him. (Thank you, Heidi, for helping your class with this egg project. It is one of the most meaningful projects, one that our daughter will be able to refer back to and remember for a very long time.)
