Christmas Day - Sunday, December 25th
We met Lindsee, EP, Will, Dad, Ernie, and Judy later on Christmas day in Branson. We had been planning a family trip to Branson with Mom for mid-October and sadly, we did not get to take her on that trip. So, we all talked and thought meeting in Branson for a Christmas trip would be fun and Mom would like that we decided to go ahead and do something different together for Christmas. That evening we met at our hotel and then went to eat dinner at a mexican restaurant. After dinner, back at the hotel, we visited, opened a few small gifts, and then the kids and EP went swimming for about an hour at the indoor hotel swimming pool.
We shared an adjoining room with Dad, so our kids took turns sleeping in the extra bed in his room. It was nice to be able to play games together and watch some Christmas movies together in our rooms.
Monday, December 26th
The next morning, Dad, Lindsee, Sarah, Phoebe, and I went to pick up some show tickets and made a quick stop at the Shops in Grand Village. There was a huge Christmas wreath and a huge chair.....
Lindsee and I wanted to take a picture with Dad in the huge chair. He climbed in first. We thought we could just grab his arms and side him back in the chair, then we could fit on both sides of him. The pictures below LOOK like we may have been hurting Dad when we slid hm back in the chair.... I promse we were NOT hurting him. There was laughter from everyone the entire time, LOTS OF LAUGHTER!
Then it was Sarah and Phoebe's turn to sit in the huge chair with Popee..... CUE MORE LAUGHTER!
In the early afternoon we got all of our warm clothes on and headed to Silver Dollar City for the rest of the day.
It was a very cold day in the park so not many rides were open. We did ALL start right out riding Fire In The Hole when we discovered that it was open.
We went to several shows that day all over the park. The saloon show is always one of our favorites.
The Christmas lights all over the park were fantastic just like they are every year!
Some of our crew went down and took the Marvel Cave tour. Marvel Cave is amazing! The tour is about an hour long and is included in your price of admission or with your season pass to SDC.
Back at the hotel that night, we played some more games together before going to bed.
Tuesday, December 27th
The next morning, some of us went downtown to do a little looking and a little shopping. Dad rode in the back of the car with the kids. They decided to play a little trick on us after shopping when they secretly, and very quietly, broke out some CANDY cigarettes in the back of the car. When we turned to look at them we all got some great laughs. And, the laughs continued as they made different smoker faces..... Will even got in on the CANDY cigarette action. And, MORE LAUGHTER!
Reminder this is CANDY! CANDY! CANDY!
Another reminder....this is CANDY!
When headed back out to SDC for a few hours that afternoon. It was a little bit warmer that day so a few more rides were open that were not open the day before. Some of us went to a show or two that we had missed the day before and the rest of us went and rode as many rides as we could.
The only roller coasters that were open the two days that we were there were Fire In the Hole and Thunderation. Will rode both of them with us.
That evening we attended the Haygoods Christmas show. Lindsee and I ordered us all special "ELF" Christmas shirts to wear to the show. We jokingly called ourselves the "Cotton-Headed-Ninny-Muggins" group.
Eric and Aunt Judy had matching shirts. Ernie and Stacee had matching shirts.
Lindsee and Silas had matching shirts.
The Haygoods put on a lively and entertaining show, filled with great music and lots of instruments, in a relaxed atmosphere.
Back at the hotel later that night, we played some more games and Silas went to the pool to swim one last time.
Wednesday, December 28th
The next morning, after breakfast, we all headed our separate ways back home. We had a great time together.
