Popee attended a lot of Phoebe's home basketball games this season. BEST. POPEE. IN. THE. WORLD.
Mr. McCaffree, his wife, and his daughter got to come one of the last home 7th grade basketball games for these girls (below). He had three out of the four below in his 1st and 2nd grade classroom - Phoebe, Lila, and Haylee.
Silas has enjoyed having a new puppy at our house. He likes playing with her, teaching her to sit and fetch, and trying to facilitate a friendship between the cat and the dog.
Phoebe went to eat dinner, ice skated, and had lots of fun with her "Kids For Christ" group at Chicken N Pickle.
Lindsee finally got to meet Belle.
Phoebe and Sarah both were coached by Mrs. Whitney and Mr. Wright. These two were Phoebe's 7th grade coaches this basketball season.
Phoebe's choir, the Silverbacks, were invited to sing one evening at an outdoor Christmas event. They sang Christmas carols for about 20-30 minutes. We met friends there and enjoyed an evening hanging out with them, listening to the music, looking at Christmas lights, drinking hot cocoa and Coca-Cola, and horse drawn carriages rides for our families.

Below, our friends and us, Phoebe, Eric, Stacee, Silas, Noah, Sarah, Brynlee, Jason, Nayte, and Hannah.
Phoebe wanted to make Christmas "Cake Pops" for an art class project, so she and I spent an evening making chocolate and vanilla Christmas treats for her classmates and teachers. They turned out delicious!
Phoebe's choir put on a wonderful December choir concert filled with beautiful Christmas music.
Lindsee, Will, EP, Charles, Wyonna, and Popee joined us for Phoebe's concert.
Belle loves laying by the warm fire at our house on cold days.
She also loves her stuffed animal toys. She carries them around, lays on them, chews on them, throws them around, and will get them all out at once.
Phoebe completed and brought home these art projects below....There were several more projects that she completed in her art class this semester and a couple were kept and will be displayed in the district art fair in March.
Dad had his second eye surgery in December. It went well. He and I enjoyed pancakes and sausage after his surgery that morning. Phoebe handled some nurse/doctor things later that day for him by removing the tape "X" off his eyelid so that he could open his eye. Later, before bed, I taped on his eye shield to protect his eye while he slept. I may have overused the tape to keep it in place, but didn't want it to fall off if he did some tossing and turning that night.... Good thing he's a good sport about it all.
Sarah made the varsity girls basketball team this year and had some extra fans at her first home basketball game of the season. Popee, Lindsee, Will, EP, Grandma Sharon, and Uncle Tom. Glad you all could be here to watch and cheer for our girl.
We spent a weekend with Eric's family in Fredonia celebrating his Aunt Carla and Uncle Tony's 40th wedding anniversary. We all had a fun time. Their children planned this SURPRISE celebration and pulled it off, getting so many of Tony and Carla's close friends and family members from all over the United States in one place to celebrate with dinner and dancing.
Above, Bruce, Carla, Tony, Dorothy, Karen, Tom and Sharon.
Below, Sarah, Phoebe, Silas, Grandma Great (Dorothy), and Eric.
It's always great when we get to spend time with Grandma AND Grandma Great!
We spent an evening together decorating Christmas sugar cookies from our "Cheryl's Cookies" box that we got in the mail, thanks to Eric's cousin Venus and her son Nate. This has become a very fun family tradition for us each year. We laugh together, create fun Christmas designs on cookies, listen to Christmas music, and eat a few cookies together when we finish. Then eat all the rest over the next few days. YUM-YUM-YUM! Thank you Venus and Nate!
We spent part of a day with Lindsee, Will and Dad doing a little Christmas baking, (until a winter storm blew in and cut us off a little earlier than we had planned).... a new tradition that I hope we will continue every year from now on. New traditions and time spent together smiling, laughing, and having fun has been good for all of our souls this season.
We wore aprons, rolled out dough, used cookie cutters, mixed, decorated, taste tested, baked, sang songs, laughed, told stories, and had so much fun.
Things got a little silly with Sarah and Will, then rubbed off on the rest of us.....
Our family spent an evening driving around town and looking at Christmas lights together. We stopped and got drinks from the QT, then watched some Christmas movies together when we got back home that night.
We opened all of our presents from Grandma Sharon on Christmas Eve. Grandma did a great job picking out some fantastic gifts for all of us this year! Thank you, Grandma Sharon!
Pretty jewelry for the girls, a warm vest for Silas, seasonings for Eric, a beautiful new shirt for me...
chocolates and a Chiefs blanket for Silas, and a new shirt and cologne for Eric.
Christmas morning was spent opening gifts, looking in stockings, attending church, and then heading to Branson. Below, a quick picture of the kids and Eric with our new Christmas kayaks. We'll be ready for some spring weather to try these out together.
At church Silas was asked to do a scripture reading. He stood up, spoke clearly, and shared God's word and the good news of Christ with all of us. At the end of the service we all lit candles, the kids went to the front, and we sang "Silent Night".
We decided to do something different with Ernie and Judy for Christmas this year. We knew it might be hard without Mom for some of us this year. We decided to go to Branson as a family for some fun. We were supposed to take a family trip (with Mom) in October to Branson, but didn't get to, so heading there for Christmas together would be the thing we should do. Mom would want us to go and have a good time. We all met at our hotel in Branson on Christmas day. We exchanged a few small gifts, and went to eat at a mexican restaurant that night. After dinner, the kids and EP all went swimming for about an hour.
We spent the next day at Silver Dollar City.
Then the day after that we went back to Silver Dollar City for a few hours then to the Haygoods Christmas show that evening. It was a good trip for all of us. It was nice to be together in a different setting.
Our new dog, Belle, and Lucy, our cat were able to get a little closer together with help from the girls.
Silas and Owen got to have a sleepover over the Christmas break. They went to the Alley with some friends and bowled, ate pizza, and played some arcade games. They had a lot of fun together! I am thankful for the friendship these two boys share.
