Colorado Day Three - Monday

On Monday morning we got up, packed a picnic lunch, and headed for the North Pole... North Pole, Colorado that is, home of Santa's Workshop.  Every summer as a kid my parents and grandparents would take my brother, sister and I there.  It was very fun.  One of my favorite things about the North Pole is that there is always Christmas music playing all day long throughout the park.  There were so many fun Christmas themed rides and the lines were never long.  Some of the same rides are still there now for my kids to ride.  We all had fun watching the kids ride and riding a few rides with them.
The first ride of the day, the Mini Himalaya... this ride went very fast in a circle, forwards and backwards.  (I am the parent who "gets" to ride most rides, and always the spinning rides, Eric cannot do the spinning rides anymore.  They make him a little woozy.)
My mom was excited to ride the Tilt-O-Whirl and the Scrambler with us! (For real.  She loves those two rides!)  Phoebe only rode the Tilt-O-Whirl once and did not like it.  It was a little too fast and spun around too much for her.  She said, "It was hurting my tummy."  She preferred all of the slow rides.  The thumbs up picture on the Tilt-O-Whirl was taken before the ride started.  After riding it Phoebe would have given it a big thumbs down.
Next up... the big Candy Cane Slide.  This was one of Phoebe's favorites!  Silas also got to come down this one with Daddy.
Motorcycling....
The Cars!  I used to drive my Grandpa Hastings and my Dad around these tracks.  This time Silas drove me, sort of.  Sarah drove Popee.  And, Phoebe drove Daddy.
The Paratrooper... this was another one that once we got on Phoebe did not like.  Sarah rode this one with Aunt Wyonna and she loved it though.  Any ride Sarah really liked, you could tell by looking at her face... she would have a smile from ear to ear and would be laughing and laughing.
The Skyride has been around a long time.  Just like riding a chairlift up a mountain... This one is not exciting but has some great mountain views.
Located in the center of Santa's Village is the "North Pole" a frozen solid ice pole for all to see and feel.  Also, in Santa's Village is his house, and right outside his house his personal mailbox where you can leave your letters to him.
Another one of Phoebe's favorite rides was the train ride.  After the train ride we ate our picnic lunch.  Sarah and Phoebe found a chipmunk to feed our bread crust to after lunch.
We rode the Carousel several times, sometimes on a reindeer and sometimes on a horse.
One adult per ornament is the rule on the Christmas Tree ride.  Eric and I tried to ride together, but were told we could not.  (I remember my Dad and Lindsee two adults riding together in an ornament a couple years ago... I wonder if they broke that ornament, and that is why there is now this one adult per ornament rule?)
Ladybug ride....
The Highest Ferris Wheel in the World!  This is my least favorite ride in the whole world.  I am smiling in the pictures as I try to hold onto my squirming infant who just wants to stand up and rock the car we were riding in.  Eric probably told him secretly before we got on the ride to try and rock the car.  He knows that scares me to death.
The Scrambler... Sarah rode this twice.  Once with my mom and once with me.
Star Fighters and Motorcycles....
Below is a picture of our crew watching Sarah and Phoebe ride on the Rodeo Rider... a ride that goes up and up and drops down over and over.
Sarah loved this one!  She could not stop smiling the entire time on this up and down bouncing ride.
Another one that Phoebe could not wait to get off of and one that Sarah loved and had to ride again, the Candy Cane Coaster!
The Rocket Ride...
More Carousel rides...
It was a very fun day at the North Pole. We stopped riding when it started to rain at about 3:00 pm.
On our drive back to the cabin we saw this deer right by the back road.
Everyone was tired that evening from walking around and riding.  Uncle Charlie fell asleep next to this not-so-tired smiley cute guy....  He kept popping his head up, smiling, and trying to reach Charlie.  Then he would sit back down, and pop up and do it again.
