The Santa Knife

For Christmas, this past December, Santa left this brand new sharp knife in Eric's stocking.  Someone must have told him about all of our dull knives.  Stupid Santa knife.  It is a fantastic knife, very sharp.  It cuts onions, potatoes, and raw meat with ease.  Stupid Santa Knife.

Today Eric started to do a little work in our kitchen.  He moved some things on our counter around and out of his way... and as he turned, bumped into the knife holder, knocking it over and then reacting by trying to catch the whole thing in his hands.  Stupid Santa Knife.  (My parents happened to be visiting us today.  Myself, my parents, and our kids had just sat down for lunch when it happened.) We heard the crash, and then Eric said, "Please be okay finger."  My Dad and I hurried into the kitchen to see exactly what had just happened.  Blood was all on the floor.  Stupid Santa Knife.  Eric caught the Santa knife with his fingers, and it cut right into his pinky with ease too.  Stupid Santa Knife.  Any of those old dull knives of ours would have just bounced right off of him, but no, someone who's name starts with an S (Santa, Stacee, ?) thought Eric would like a new sharp knife for Christmas.  I don't think he is liking the Santa knife too much right now.
Since we had some babysitters already at our house and lunch on the table, Eric and I decided to have a nice little afternoon date at the Immediate Care Center.  Stupid Santa Knife.
The cut was on the inside edge of his left pinky and partly around to the inside/palm side.  So close to cutting a tendon.  Thank goodness it did not.  Stupid Santa Knife.
Four stitches and two and a half hours later our date was over.  Eric's finger should heal nicely.  As for the Santa knife... It has been placed in a much safer spot for now, where it cannot be knocked off the counter or picked up by someone small or big.  Stupid Santa Knife.
