Our Memorial Day weekend started off with meeting Hastings relatives at the Clearwater cemetery to decorate family and friends grave sites.
Above, my grandparents grave, Howard and Jo Hastings. Josephine Amelia Holman, born January 11th, 1914 and died May 11th, 2000. Howard David Hastings, born November 4th, 1910 and died January 10th, 1996. They were the parents of five boys, (in birth order) Harold Hastings, Charles Hastings, Paul Hastings, Dale Hastings, and Larry Hastings. Below, my uncle's grave, Harold David Hastings, born October 19th, 1938 and died January 11th, 1996.
Next we went to Greenwood cemetery. Here more Hastings relatives are buried.
My great grandparents, Paul F. Hastings and Dora M. Loger Hastings, and my great great grandparents, Ida and Admiral Hastings. Each also has in infant who died and is buried next to them.
Later in the day some us went to the shooting range and had a great time trying to hit the clay pigeons together. Johannah went for her first time with us and she did great! I am sure she will be back for more.
Uncle Dale and my Dad gave her a couple pointers.
Sarah, Phoebe, and Mom had a good time watching us shoot. Nice ear and eye protection ladies.
My cousin Karen, her husband Scott, and their son Christopher got to come with us too. (Karen is the daughter of Jerry, who is one of my Dad's first cousins).
Below, Jerry and his wife, Julie.
Nice ear and eye protection lady. Pull one... Pull two....
Below, Johannah and I trying our best to hit some moving targets.
Jerry gave me some pointers.....
The last thing we tried was a 3 minute shoot-out. Five people in our group stepped up to a station and they could all shoot at once at targets being thrown over and over for a solid three minutes. It was interesting and exciting. Dad, Uncle Dale, Scott, Jerry, and Christopher participated in this rapid fire event.
Look at those Hastings brothers, (below) blowing up some clay pigeons! Someone taught those boys how to aim and shoot.
We also found time for a little backyard Wiffle ball. Phoebe and Sarah always play on a team against Silas and Eric. Girls vs. Boys.
There was also plenty of time to work on our new old farmhouse. Below are just a few pictures of the kids and Eric and I over there that weekend. We are making lots of progress and starting to get pretty excited about moving in later this summer.
