Below, is a puzzle piece collage Phoebe created about herself for a bulletin board at school. Each child in her class made a one and then the pieces were put together in the hallway to make a classroom puzzle.
Phoebe continued to do very well in math this year.
In May she had to write a story about what she was going to do this summer and draw a picture. Below right, is her story about all her summer activities and fun. It says, "I am going to do a lot of fun things this summer. I will take swimming lessons. I will do softball games. I will go to Shocker basketball camp. I will ride in Popee and Nanee's new boat. I like swimming the best in the summer."
Below, is a Mother's Day flower that Phoebe made me at school... "My mom is very nice. She makes me dinner. She buys me stuff." Her flower petals say, My mom is "beautiful, nice, a great cook, smart, a hard worker, a loving person".
This little picture below makes me smile. Phoebe is a great helper to Eric and I. She does not complain much, works hard, and sometimes sees things that need to be done and does them without us even asking her to do them. (She has been especially helpful working on our new house - getting it ready to move in.) In the picture she drew herself helping clean up while Sarah and Silas are playing with a ball.
In her next picture, below, she drew us all shopping at Lowe's or Menard's. (That is where we have been shopping a lot lately for things for our new house.) Sometimes our cart is piled high, just like she drew it.
Phoebe got one more medal from the Mighty Milers program for completing enough miles during the school year to have run two marathons.
Her report card was excellent, as usual. Her teacher wrote, "Phoebe is a great kid with cool personality when you get to know her. Glad I get to have her for another year. Her reading really took off. So proud of her! Have a great summer!"
On the next to the last day of school we went on a school wide field trip to the zoo. I haven't gone in the past, but both Phoebe and Sarah wanted me to go with them this year. So we walked around the zoo and ate lunch together and with some of our school friends. It was a good day.
Phoebe's favorite field trip during her first grade year was to the zoo.
On the last day of school there was a school talent show and assembly. The first grade classes sang the song "Jump Up" together. Phoebe and four other children were recognized at the all school assembly and talent show for having PERFECT Attendance for the 2016/2017 school year. They each were given a certificate and an new book from the Principal.
Phoebe you had an exceptional first grade year! We are glad you like school and look forward to a bright future for you! Below, last day of school picture, Sarah last day of fourth grade and Phoebe last day of first grade.
