Game 9 - Tuesday, June 13th
A busy night of softball. I left work at 4pm to make it to Sarah's game in Winfield. Then, Phoebe and I, along with Coach BJ and his daughter Kali, left there during the middle of the game to get to our machine pitch game in Haysville at 8pm.
Phoebe had a few special fans tonight. The principal, her teacher, and Popee and Nanee.
What a great night as Phoebe got two hits and scored twice. Also, her friend Baylee got two hits. Both girls had only had one previous hit all season.
I was thrilled to see the smiling face on Phoebe.
Machine Pitching 101: Find the spot on the ball that throws strikes and keep setting it there.
Another hit. My slugger!
Coach BJ, above, coaching third base.
We won 6-1. Good Game Girls!
Game 10 - Thursday, June 15th
We played Clearwater #2 tonight in Haysville. We had a team photo before the game started.
Front row, left to right, Kaelie, Ilysia, Jada, Baylee, and Chloe. Second row, left to right, Kali, Alli, Kylie, Brooke, Gabby, Phoebe, and Haylee. Back row, left to right, Coach BJ (Kali's Dad), Coach Kris (Chloe's Dad), and me - Coach Eric (Phoebe's Dad).
Phoebe played pitcher, 3rd base, and outfield.
To buy time between inning, I like to toss the ball.
Phoebe only had one at bat tonight. She had some good swings but struck out.
Phoebe had a great play at 3rd base. She fielded a hard ground ball and ran to third base beating the runner from 2nd. It was also a much needed out.
Note the dark clouds in the background. We finished the game right before the severe weather rolled through. We played a good game but lost 4-2. We hit well but we left a lot of people on base. Also, the other team was able to get us out in the field a handful of times (specifically with their pitcher). I did have a complaint to the other teams coaches because they did not rotate their players in the field, which is a rule. If we had those outs back, it may have been a different result. Oh well, our team played well, just don't like it to result in a loss.
Another one of the 1st grade teachers came to watch her students on our team tonight. We appreciate our girls' elementary school staff for supporting their students outside of the school.
