Sarah Softball - Week 5 - Games 10, 5/Makeup, & 11

Game 10 - Monday, June 12th
We played Douglass in Douglass.
Sarah had a few good ground ball singles.
Above, Sarah sliding into home.
"Quinn it to win it" was the starting pitcher (and the winning pitcher).

Sarah played first base and third base.  She had a nice play at third where she almost threw a girl out at first.  At first base, she scooped up a hard throw from Emerie that was in the dirt for an out.  She also fielded a ground ball for an out.  She played great defense.
Hannah came in to pitch the 3rd inning, which was our last inning.
Madelyn, one of our catchers, had our first throw out of a runner/stealer this season when she threw it to Sarah at 3rd base.  Great throw, catch, and tag out girls!
Diamonds win another one! 15 - 8.  That puts our record this season at 8-1.

Makeup Game 5 - Tuesday, June 13th
We got to face the Giants again tonight.  The mighty Winfield team.  We got the girls ready to go and there was great enthusiasm.
The girls huddled, getting pumped up before the game.
We were up to bat first.  Sarah hit 3rd in the line-up.  She walked her first at bat.  She scored the first run of the game by stealing her way around the bases to make a very close, beautiful slide into home.
Emerie pitched the first two innings.
Mylie did an excellent job catching last night.
Sarah played third for the entire game and did a good job being ready and taking throws from Mylie to try to get the runner out.
Hannah came in for the third and fourth innings to close out the game.  She did AMAZING again!  She struck out 4 girls and did not allow any runs to get in while she was pitching.
We got girls on base due to walks but couldn't hit them in, leaving them stranded.  Our two runs scored were thanks to the fast feet of Sarah and Rhyan and their quick thinking and slides as they ran into home.  Our one hit of the game went to Aleigha. We lost this one, 10 - 2.

Game 11 - Wednesday, June 14th
We played Belle Plain #1 on Wednesday.  This was a pretty good team with girls that could pitch.  We actually remembered the team, specifically the coach, from last year in machine pitch.  When we played last year, he was unable to throw strikes while coach DJ was able to.  We joke that DJ was the MVP of that game and won it for us.
Quinn it to win it pitched 2 good innings.
Sarah likes to swing at those high ones.  Even though she missed it, it was a nice looking swing!  She did have a swinging bunt that resulted in a single her first at bat and a walk for her second at bat.
Sarah played 1st, 3rd, and 2nd base.  She also played with a fat lip.  Before the game while catching pop flies, she had one hit off her face.  Ouch!
I have been really enjoying watching Sarah play.  She is focused and being a good example to her teammates.
Hurricane Hannah has been dominant lately.  She closed again for our team tonight.
Above, a picture of the coaches.  Good game.  Good game.  Good game.  We run ruled the team 11-1.
